Home Sweet Home

Not quite sure whether the business trip has been all that worthwhile, but one thing for sure is I am mightily glad it's over.

Home sweet home, bed sweet bed, aahhh...

And of course the kids unyielding determination to wake me up every morning. =\

Why the wekeend has to end so soon?

Why? =(

Save some for papa

Mama, you have to save some food for papa.

Papa is not home.

But papa will come back later.

Hsiang, papa is outstation and will not be back until Friday.

Oh.

You see, my kids go to bed early, and recently I have been been working long hours so they don't get to see me the whole day. Not when they wake up, and not when they go to sleep.

So despite me being outstation for two days now, my elder son doesn't even know I am away from home. He thought I am just working as usual.

Sweet of him to think of saving dinner for me. Yet so sad that my presence is so insignificant.

Good Day

Some days, the stars seemed to be aligned in my favour and all things go smoothly.

Despite the midnight to 02:00 hours meeting, then the 08:00 to 10:00 hours meeting, despite the half dead zombie state I am in now, I am calling it a fantastic day at work today.

After all, I am already home by 18:30 hours and got to see my kids before they have gone to bed. =D

The two colleagues had done all the prework and got things going before I reached the floor. All the sudden I feel a great affinity for both of them, gotta love the colleagues who make your life easier at work. =)

For the first time ever, the data collection went smoothly, no hiccup whatsoever. Five out of five cells completed, perfect run. It's like winning the jackpot.

I even had time to make it to the 1:1 meeting with my manager and did not have to push it out for the third time this week because I was stuck in the floor working my arse off.

Really, after having more than my fair share of sucky days at work, today was positively brilliant.

Some days are just nice and dandy.

Today is one such day. ^_^

j+1

Once in a long while, me and my buddies will hit the karaoke to unleash our singing prowess.

Actually it's more like to release some pent up tension but the previous statement sounds better. =P

This time there is cause for celebration as well. As per the running tradition, the fortunate few treated the rest of us to this session.

What's better than karaoke? FREE karaoke of course! =D

So here's hoping we have this reason to celebrate every year.

Needless to say I shouted my head off without a care, it's good that I do not have a reputation to maintain, hehe.

The only thing missing, was the lack of female voice for all the duets that we like to sing. Hard though he tried, it's just different with Nelson using his banshee fake female voice.

Gave us the goose bumps. The nasty type, not the nice type.

For your information, here's an example of the nice type of goose bumps.

Looking for more female singers, the silent and shy ones need not apply. We only want the sporty, fighting for mic ones. =P

No, really.

One day to the next

Just 24 hours apart, yet can be so different.

Yesterday was a nice day. Three generations playing board game together, that's super rare, and super meaningful.

Since mom and dad won't be home the coming Mother's and Father's Day, we celebrated with them in our own way yesterday. Nothing special, but meaningful nevertheless.

Yes, yesterday was a really nice day.

-----

Today though, today's a shitty day.

The boys persisted with their "let's deny papa his weekend rest" vexation, ensuring I started my day grouchy.

Then the elder son, in his carelessness, fractured one of his toes hitting a chair just prior to lunch. Big commotion, tears, shouting, angry words but it soon became apparently that I was the only one wanting to get my elder son to the hospital as soon as possible.

The so call 'emergency' dragged on for ages because all others wanted to finish their lunch first, and of course the younger son decided to be difficult at that moment. Eventually we had to leave the younger son at home with his grandparents while we belatedly rush the now well fed elder son to the hospital.

Only I didn't make it to the hospital, just before we got on to the main road wifey said she didn't need me so I walked home to deal with that unruly younger child. The ill behaved child who doesn't listen to me and ignores everything I said.

Not helping was the fact that I was suffering from IBS this whole day.

Yes, today's a really shitty day.

Breather

I wanted to write about how our government has shamed itself yet again, about my strong objection regarding Astro editing the BBC news, and how nice it was to go for a movie with wifey after so many years.

But I was swarmed these few days, I barely had time for dinner and sleep, let alone blogging. =(

You know, I really don't mind suffering from overworked withdrawal. Honestly, rather that than being overworked again.

>_<

Anyway, here's hoping I get to catch up with rest this long weekend, goodness knows I could use a breather.
