Family without the benefits

I have been working in the foreign dungeon for like, six months now.

Initially I didn't think it would be such a lengthy period but one thing followed another and somehow throughout this period, none of the colleagues from my department working on the same stuff was assigned there.

Just me. Guess the gullible always get the shaft. =|

Oh well, work is work, since I am not someone who shies away from getting my hands dirty, or someone who thinks himself above hands on manual work.

Honest work is honest work.

But pretty soon, I believe my assignment there is coming to an end, at least for the main project that held me there these past months.

It has been a good experience, there are always things to learn, horizon to expand, and learned I did whenever there was colleague willing to teach.

Surprisingly, though I'm borderline anti-social, I got on well enough with most of the colleagues there. At least I think so. =P

One thing that really irks me though, is that there have been many late nights, many working over the weekends and public holidays, which the colleagues there got various compensations, overtime packages, and bonuses.

I worked there alongside, and got zip, since I 'm from another el cheap-o department. =(

The colleagues there joked that I am like a family member without the benefits. So true.

Well, I guess at least it's consoling to know that I am now "family member" instead of "cheap labour's cheap labour".

evil is back

Initially wanted to post about the idiotic driver I had the misfortune of encountering today but hey, it's Friday, so let's post something fun instead. =)

Besides, I haven't decided on a right format for my Hall of Shame entries, even though I have been taking notes of idiotic drivers since April 2010... (slacker point +1)

So, Blizzard announced Diablo III release date, the evil is back on 15th of May 2012. Woot, gamers rejoice!

Though for once, I am not too anxious for it to be released and hope Blizzard will do their usual delay, say, for another 9 more months.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to play Diablo III, it's just that I signed up for the World of Warcraft annual pass in February (hence getting myself the D3 game), and I can't see how I will have time for both D3 and WoW.

Current plan is to have wifey starts playing D3 while I continue WoW until the end of the annual pass subscription. Just not sure if wifey is interested, or that I can stand not playing D3 for 9 months. =P

Oh well.

And since we are on gaming, here's my recent WoW milestone:

All ten classes reaching (or above) level 70, the last to reach being my Death Knight. Meant nothing to others but to me it's another milestone. =)

There are players that have "main" character, and "alternate" character(s), for me though, there is no "alternate" characters, they are all main, I play them all without favouring any! =D

These are my Alliance characters, composing of all Alliance races, all available classes thus far (no more slot on this server for Pandaren Monk when the next expansion comes out =( ), and all professions except Archaeology, which I will have my dwarf hunter picked up eventually.

And then there are my Horde characters on the other server...

So much to do in WoW, so little time. =P

Mood-o-colour-nator Indication

A good day

My short holiday started yesterday. Needed a break from work, and to think about career path.

The break didn't start out too well though, sprained my ankle just the day before and the family shopping plan became a hospital trip for the younger son, who subsequently vomited in the car on the way back from hospital.

And it rained like no tomorrow. =\

Today's better, ankle is less painful, sun's shining. Got the family grocery shopping done, and we went to the beach in the evening. Family outing, yay!

The kids had fun. I dug a couple holes so the sea water got pooled, the kids liked that. Collected seashells while watching out to make sure the older son didn't run straight into the sea in his excitement.

The younger one stayed with wifey at a safe distance from the sea, contented to build sand castles decorated with seashells. The seashells that I collected and threw near to him, which initially he looked up thinking they just dropped from the sky.

Heh, it's raining seashells! =P

Three couples were there taking their wedding photo. Business related to wedding and marriage is never going to be out of demand, hmm...

Had dinner before we came home, very nice western food, reasonably priced.

The older son was totally knackered, but it has been a good day. =)

Not really a special word this time, it's just that it holds special meaning for me today so here's this entry serving dual purposes.

nausea noun

From the ever useful Wiktionary:

1. a feeling of physical unwellness, usually with the desire to vomit

2. strong dislike or disgust

3. sea-sickness

Feeling nauseous after swallowing that nauseating stuff today. Couldn't hold myself together to continue work.

The feeling did not abate after taking a dump. Nasty.

Guess it's just really disgusting.
