How I spent my Valentine's Day

Reluctantly woke up late morning.

No, that's not the right word, let me rephrase.

Reluctantly got out of bed late morning. I woke up at some ungodly hour in the night and sleep had been sporadic after that. Bollocks.

Remained zombie-like until lunch.

Helped wifey on crab stick frying after lunch. I peeled she fried. We made many.

Wifey said crab stick frying is the easiest of all the Chinese New Year snacks she is making this year. The rest are baked stuff like almond crunches, peanut cookies, butter cookies, chocolate cookies, et cetera.

Baking is more work, she said.

Posted a blog after reading those fathers' Facebook posts on spending Valentine's with their daughter. Jealous die me (really jealous).

Decided to go out after dinner. Wifey had mentioned wanting to take photographs of the lantern decoration at Paragon, and I wanted to get the fourth book of the Boy Soldier series.

Took photos of the lanterns outside Paragon, then we headed in to check out their Chinese New Year decoration.

Donated to the flood victims at the entrance. We let the kids put in the money and explained what's the cause to them. Hopefully they will grow up to be caring persons who help others in need. Within their capability, of course.

More lanterns inside Paragon, took a few more photos and we headed to Gurney Plaza.

Wifey remarked that there seemed to be a lot more people, all nicely dressed and with makeup. The Valentine's Day believers.

The kids asked why there were people selling roses? I explained it's Valentine's Day, and of course I had to explain what is Valentine's Day after that.

"It's a day where we celebrate love and romance, but I think it's over-commercialised now." That's what I said.

Both Popular and MPH didn't have the book I am looking for. Out of stock, the staff said. Guess I will have to go check again when I finish reading the current one.

We then headed home, walking along the beach as the kids wanted to look at the sea. Ended up they were more interested in spotting the rats. Oh well.

After the kids went to bed I spent the night playing computer game.

That's my Valentine's Day.

Costly Love

Here's wishing those who believe in Valentine's Day a sweet and romantic day tomorrow!

Remember to take the necessary precaution unless you wish to be the parent of November baby or babies, which is a perfectly understandable wish since we all know November is the bestest month and November babies are the cutest and most lovable.

Okay you should stop reading now if you belong to the above mentioned category.

For those like me who make it a point to celebrate love and romance every day and any other day but refuse to buy into the over-commercialised and disgustingly inflated Valentine's Day, I like to give you a high five and hope you stay smart.

Let us marvel the rich, the gullible, and the unfortunately partner-imposed be snared and butchered, and congratulates the businessmen and businesswomen for a commercial opportunity well exploited.

It's okay to be smug but remember not to snigger, as there's nothing wrong celebrating Valentine's Day or being a Valentine's Day believer, just foolish. After all, someone gotta sustain the economy.

Oh, the precaution applies too. =P

Random behaviour for February 2015

Again, I might have missed a couple of days, but really only a few days and I did my abdominal muscles exercise religiously otherwise so I grade myself successful in January's impromptu resolution.

I probably will continue with the abdominal muscles exercise. Hopefully will not lessen in frequency now that I do not list it as an impromptu resolution.

Anyway, the Force is weak this month, I don't feel like I am up to an impromptu resolution so I am going to give this month a pass. I actually have a few, to me, rather challenging resolutions that will really try my discipline but I will leave them to after Chinese New Year.

So, for February 2015, I forgo any random behaviour and suspend any impromptu resolution.

Because I can.

Understanding Introverts

Not sure how the others see me, but I know I am at least borderline antisocial, and that I am more like introvert since I am definitely not an extrovert person.

Given the choice I prefer to stay at home enjoying the peace and quiet, and do what I enjoy, like sleeping, reading and, erm... more sleeping. =P

Social gathering, particularly the large crowdy type, with lots of strangers or not so close people, is to me, tiring.

I read an online article by Schroeder Jones back in November 2013, it's a guide to understanding the introverted. I like that article very much and have taken down some notes that resonate with me.

It says that an introvert creates his/her own energy, and expends it when interacting with others. So that's why social interaction is exhausting for introverts and we need time to recharge.

An extrovert, on the other hand, gains energy from social interaction.

I also concur with the article in regards to the fact that it doesn't mean an introverted person doesn't like company, it's just that interaction is expensive so he/she doesn't want to spend it on something wasteful. We (introverts) only want to spend our precious energy on someone who wants us around, who we feel we are welcomed.

Hopefully now you know too. ^_^

OMG

Early January this year, I agreed to be one of the heng tai (brothers) for an old mate. Along with the others of the gang, we would be his SWAT team, bodyguards, or whatever you like to call it, those who accompany the groom to get the bride.

Standing against us were the ji mui (sisters), with their sadistic challenges and obstacles that we had to pass to get to the bride.

No, I never understand this thing, the concept just feel so wrong to me. But alas, I did it for the mate. Honestly, don't expect me to do it for just anyone.

Oh, when I say my old mate, I meant it literally. All of us are at least 10 years too old for this kind of stuff, probably closer to 20 years really. -_-

Anyway, to cut a story short, the photos of the day from the official photographers were shared yesterday, and... and...

You know, I really don't have much of a reputation besides being the slacker extraordinaire and maybe someone evil and mischievous. But still, I rather some of the photos never see the light. >_<

Also, I probably had my whole year worth of photos taken in that single day, probably even two years worth.
