Enough Said

A picture says a thousand words, so here's one that tells everything I want to say for this entry.

Okay okay, I bet many just went huh?

Fair enough, can't assume everyone is a geeky gamer like I am. =P

It's a screenshot of one of my World of Warcraft characters, a goblin rogue, on a Tyrael's Charger.

So?

Well, it means...

- I have the World of Warcraft Cataclysm expansion (old news: Goblin race only in Cataclysm)

- I have subscribed to the World of Warcraft Annual Pass (hence the special flying mount)

- I will get Diablo III through digital download when it launches (part of the Annual Pass deal)

- Most importantly, I have time to play game again! Woot! =D

Assuming Diablo III will cost GBP30, and with exchange rate of GBP:MYR = 1:5, it works out to be slightly less than MYR26 per month for the World of Warcraft subscription.

The way I see it, cost of entertainment for karaoke is at least MYR5 per hour (with group of friends on weekday lunch time deal), a movie is about MYR4 per hour (Wednesday offer). So how many hours will I be playing World of Warcraft per month?

Conservatively if I only get to play 2 hours every weekend for a total of 8 hours per month, it's already cheaper than watching movie.

Knowing myself though, it's probably more like 26 hours per month making it 1 hour of enjoyment per riggit. Value for money! =D

Dinner with the ladies

Got invited to a dinner cum catch-up with four lady friends. Asked wifey and was told to go ahead since she hadn't prepared my dinner. Most unbelievably, today I actually got off work on time!

On time, really! I almost wanted to cry in joy. Almost.

Not sure why a borderline antisocial person like me got invited to a all ladies gathering, I am... one of them? 0_o

Anyway, always nice to meet up with old friends, though not so nice for the last minute notice.

Talked about work, life, baby, breast feeding, breast implant, lactose intolerance, SKII, homosexual, who staying where when, exercise, walking long distance home, bus waiting, job seeking, pregnancy, age to give birth, poking hole in condom, safe sex, hair cut, et cetera.

When we were leaving, got mistaken by their friend at another table as one of the ladies' husband. Jokingly I said I am not her husband, but theirs, all four of them. =P

Again, always nice to catch up with old friends. It's a pleasant night.

I just hope the ladies now know what a 16" pizza is like. I am stuffed.

Interestingly these two days my blog was mentioned or enquired about.

People actually read this blog... really? =P

Addictions

My addictions come and go.

Mayhap addiction is too strong a word but it's the one that popped into my mind when I started writing this entry.

Probably should just call it great interest, or hobby, or things that got my attention for the time being.

Anyway, a few past "addictions" that came to my mind are all gaming related: Diablo, Starcraft, Starcraft map editing, Diablo II, World of Warcraft. I used to spend a lot of time in these, but they no longer hold me.

I may go back to World of Warcraft once in a while, but no longer with the devotion and time I put in way back when I started it.

Computer gaming is still something I enjoy immensely, I just no longer have the luxury of much gaming time. It's sad, really. =(

Some "addictions" have lasted though, I am still an avid reader, and I still write and share. The media or format might have changed from a section of a personal website to a personal blog, but I am still writing and sharing all these years.

If only I were filthy rich and could do whatever I like with no financial worries, I would have been dawdling with story writing, I would have been fiddling with photography, I would have been a dedicated game tester (and sharing my reviews) or conquering World of Warcraft with every possible race, class and faction combinations playing through all the quests, dungeons, raids and even battlefields.

If only.

Anyway, back to reality, today I have discovered my latest addiction. I am addicted to sleeping, I could stay in bed all day long given the chance.

Maybe it's just because for months now I have been working long hours like a slave. But meh! Sleeping feels so darn good!

Do not disturb while I am sleeping, I bite. =P

Money Can't Buy Love

Valentine's Day, the over-commercialised occasion, happened this year with me holed up in the dungeon.

Besides that brief blast of it during lunch break, I pretty much didn't get to see daylight as I arrived office just as the sun rises and only got home half an hour before midnight.

I did however, received my first* ever Valentine's Day card!

* if my goldfish memory serves me correctly

On principle I do not celebrate Valentine's Day in any way that involves fattening the greedy opportunistic businessmen and businesswomen. And I am blessed with a wife who thinks alike. =)

So I was really surprised when I got the card, thinking wifey has broken. 0_o

Then I felt real warm and fuzzy, felt really loved. =D

Wifey helped the two kings to make the card. Hsiang wrote all those words himself while Young was guided by wifey in writing his name.

I am so happy and proud I decided to display the card in my office.

Attention gamers: World of Warcraft (EU) sale

If you are a gamer and you haven't heard of World of Warcraft, then shame on you!

World of Warcraft Europe is celebrating it's 7th anniversary and there is a half-price sale going on from 3rd to 19th of February 2012.

For those who has always wanted to have a WoW account, now's the time! During this sale period, 25 sterling pound get you the original World of Warcraft, plus the three expansions: The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, and Cataclysm.

Of course you can just be upgrading instead of getting the full set. If only I haven't upgraded all the way to Catacylsm last year, I would have snatched up this bargain without a blink.

I blame Blizzard for offering me free trial on WotLK and free game time last year. =P

This is of course the European version of the game, meaning playable on European servers only. Just so you know, I play on European servers. =)

If for some reason you have never played this MMORPG and itching to give it a try, there is this free Starter Edition. You can play the original plus The Burning Crusade up to character level 20, after that your character can no longer level up but you are still free to roam the world and keep on playing, or just create another character, there are so many races and classes to try after all.

And no worries, there is absolutely no string attached. My wife is playing on this free Starter Edition. I also have one, since lately I cannot justify the monthly payment and with this free account I can still jump into the world whenever I got the luxury of free time for gaming.

I Will Always Love You

Houston, we have a problem. We lost Houston. Over.

Whitney Houston, once singer extraordinaire, has passed away at the age of 48.

Her songs had tounched many, myself included. I remember the late night car ride with the windows down, stereo cracking, and all of us in the car sang along I Will Always Love You at the top of our lungs.

Great song. Fond memory.

Yes people, stay away from drug, it's something that you don't have to try, ever.

Speedy Slacker

After 16+ years of driving, I got my first ever speeding ticket.

There goes my clean sheet. Bummer.

There is a first time for everything, though something I simply just forgo. For example smoking.

I am a law-abiding citizen*. I am a responsible and considerate driver, really I am. =)

* initially I wanted to say I am a pretty law-abiding citizen, but my twisted sense of humour wanted to type it as "I am pretty, law-abiding citizen". =P

I was following a colleague's car when the speeding happened, I wasn't really paying attention to the speedometer, focused on following as we were heading to a dinner and I wasn't sure of the way.

And the colleague was following another colleague, who was also following another colleague. Basically I was the fourth and last car in the series, though the police only caught me speeding but not the other three.

Just my luck. =(

I guess the police was made aware of the speeding cars when the first colleague drove passed, he tried to focus his camera on the second car but it zoomed passed, so he used the third car to adjust his focus and with that he was able to capture the fourth...

>_<

Oh well, my own fault. So there goes the money I don't have to pay the fine.

What weekend? What holiday?

Replacement holiday for Prophet Muhammad's birthday today, and Thaipusam tomorrow, so it's a four days long weekend.

For most people in Malaysia anyway.

Though for me and a few others on the same project, it's work, work, and work.

This is the reason I just smile and sometimes snigger when other colleagues complain about how busy they are, or whine about how much stuff they have to do.

Most colleagues go home two hours earlier than I do on average. Some colleagues do not go to office a few days a week. And I know of a supposingly very busy colleague who can still go over the sea to have lunch. =P

I feel you, bro, I feel you.
