It's amazing what a single degree or two can do to our body.
I can handle 38°C (37°C is the normal body temperature), but when it went up to 39°C, I went down, and when it got near to 40°C, I was wrecked.
Viral throat infection causes fever that spikes when the paracetamol effect was nearing it's end, roughly around 4 hours. There would be spasms of the muscles and ache at the joints, rather agonising really.
I was confined to my bed almost all of yesterday, except the trip to the clinic. Sad really, was looking forward to the nice dinner with friends and colleagues and the subsequent karaoke marathon.
Oh well.
Went back to the clinic today since the fever was getting worse, after waited for an eternity, I got referred to a specialist. Have to say that this referral system sucks big time, seriously ill patient would probably be long dead trying to get the referral letter.
I suppose seriously ill patient would go straight to the hospital and take the hit in the wallet, probably exactly what the medical insurance company has in mind.
The specialist adviced me to rest as much as I can since not much can be done with viral infection. He gave me MC for Monday and Tuesday, and asked me to go back for a check up on Tuesday.
Maybe I will take the doctor's advice.
I will see how I feel on Monday.
