Finally a breather since US trip. Nobody seems to care about the report though, all that frantic rush to complete the job, bah!

Thus far, rather regular Munchkin game. Won once. Me happy.

Read three books in January, about right.

Been to Penang campus twice so far, since department moved to ulu place.

Torchlight got on my radar, seems like a good RPG. Wondering if I should get it? Torchlight 2, which has multiplayer mode, is coming out in a few months. And then there it's going to be Torchlight MMORPG. Hmm...

Maybe I should just wait for Diablo III and play my collection of games for the time being.

Chinese New Year almost here, time for me to rest and relax, pretty pretty please with sugar on top.

NOX

NOX is a computer game by Westwood Studios, came out more than a decade ago in year 2000.

Westwood Studios created some great games like the Dune series and the Command & Conquer series, but was sadly closed in 2003.

NOX is a fast paced RPG with a tiny bit of puzzle solving. There are three classes to choose from, the melee oriented warrior, the magic oriented wizard, and the range attack oriented conjurer.

Yes yes, I know, it's like Diablo. It's not a bad thing really, RPG can't go too wrong following a great game.

Of course there are differences between NOX and Diablo, and if one insists on calling it a Diablo clone, then it's a pretty good one.

The warrior class has it's own skills, which the wizard and conjurer have no access to. While the wizard and conjurer share some common spells, wizard has access to a larger amount of spells plus can lay traps. The conjurer is not the "in between" of warrior and wizard, for the conjurer has the unique skills of charming and summoning creatures, and is the only class that can use bow and crossbow.

I played NOX when I bought it many years back, those who know me will know I prefer magic and range over melee, so I started with the conjurer and then played the wizard. Played the conjurer first instead of wizard because I wanted to get a feel of the game before playing the flimsy wizard class. =)

Some other game must have came out after I completed NOX with wizard, because I never get to the warrior. Probably it was Diablo II that came out. =P

Anyway, after all these years, I finally reinstalled the game and played the warrior class, and I enjoyed it. ^_^

Oh, I have to run the game in Windows 98 compatibility mode with my Quad core. =P

I am playing the conjurer class again, since I don't have the time for World of Warcraft, and DotA is just not really my cup or tea.

Vocabulary Lesson with CK (January 11)

knackered adjective

Haven't done a vocabulary lesson for a long while now (good job slacker, +1 slacker point! ^_^).

Initially was just going to titled the entry with "Knackered" and then go on with my grumbling, but since I intended to explain that word, so might as well make it a vocabulary lesson. =)

I learned this adjective while I was in the UK, it means very tired, or extremely exhausted.

And yes, I want to gripe about being very tired lately, have been extremely busy since I was back from the business trip more than a month ago.

Still have to burn the midnight oil tonight to complete the report which sums up all the hard, frantic work since the trip. I am truely fatigued and looking forward to the Chinese New Year holiday, goodness knows I need the break.

Anyway, learning should be fun, so let's forget about my whine and go back to the lesson.

Now, think of a thick British accent saying "Good grief, I am knackered!"

Yes, it sounds like "naked". =P

Big O Small O

Does size matter when it comes to 'O'?

Or is it just a question of whether it can fill you up?

Does the skin colour make any difference?

Or it's good as long as it can leave you wanting for more?

What about the taste and texture?

Interior moisture?


Everybody has his or her own preference, but it's probably safe to say that as long as you love O, you would rather have a good O than a bad O.

Anyway, I am writing this because the company gave each of us an O today, and it's a big orgasmic one!

Resolutions & Wishes

New Year resolutions?

Don't have any really, but I can make up a couple on the spot I suppose.

Here we go, in 2011, I want to...

- grumble less. (Watch me break this in no time!)

- socialise more. (Ha! Ha!)

Hmm... that's about it I guess since the more I set, the more I will break. =P

Wishes, on the other hand, I have plenty. Since you know, wishes are what we like or hope to happen, without that commitment component of resolutions. Think of it like "say nia, no action one".

So, in 2011, I wish to...

- sleep more. (Sons are making sure this wish is not going to happen)

- work less, play more. (So far, it's the opposite >.< )

- be rid of all "non value add" colleagues. (Just go bother someone else please)

- own a house that my family is happy to live in. (Good grief why is this so difficult?)

- have say, 4 million Ringgit. (Keep dreaming...)

- have a daughter, only if the wish above came true first. (Dream on top of another dream, like Inception!)

- have a second car for wifey. (Only if the three wishes above came true. 4 layers dream, woohoo!)

- have frequent card and/or board games. (I need more dedicated geeky friends!)

Okay lar, best not be too greedy in wishes. =P

We have a winner!

Finally, we have the first winner for my deck of Munchkin!

It was a four players game, of which three were "veterans" (of 2 prior games) and one new to the game.

We didn't finish the two previous games due to time constraint, so the three "veterans" were itching to be the first to get to level 10 and hence win the game this time round.

But of course, it's the new player who won. 0_o

Congratulations to Thing Thing for being the first among us to reach level 10, crowning the first win as a male human thief with that damn Tuba of Charm, which helped him to run away so many times.

Second player was a level 9 male half-dwarf-half-halfling wizard with many items, and on third place was a level 8 female (kena curse one, muahahaha!) dwarf thief with no items.


Nelson permanently became Nancy

Er... I came last, a mere level 4 female (by choice!) elf warrior. >_<

Why oh why!?!?

Just so you know, I was leading at one point of the game being level 6, then I got this...


Why did I pick up the duck? WHY!?!??!

And followed by losing to this monster, failed to escape, and hence kena the Bad Stuff...


Lose 3 levels, my goodness!

From level 6 to level 1, just like that.

Me is damn suay. =(

Well, at least I put this on Nelson/Nancy's head...

2011, a better year...?

I can lift 20kg

I have no problem writing about my weaknesses, but I hate writing about my strengths.

Probably because I have none Just not the boastful type, really.

I honestly think that what we are good at should be told by the others, instead of from self-bragging.

After all, if we are really good, people will notice, right?



Now I think of it, lifting 20kg only is not strong at all.

Oh well, I am weak. =P

Anyway, me is no likey having to sell myself ler.
