So, finally, I have got to this entry showing the sleek and sexy race car that really started this series.

Let me show the race car first. ^_^

behold! The creation that started this LEGO series

What do you think?

Anyway, since the beginning of the year, I tried to be a better father by having more father-sons bonding time, and one of the ways is to play LEGO together.

We would sit down together and then build something together, either the original design by LEGO employee, or I would create something out of my imagination.

these were the first new creation we built together

For the first few times we did new creation, I would think and design on the spot while the sons sat impatiently waiting for me to complete and show them the step.

Little mosnters have short attention span, so I couldn't do complicated or really nice stuff.

combat helicopters

For own creation, we did robot, airplane, tank, helicopter, and probably some others before the sleek and sexy race car. I didn't think of taking photos for all of them, which is a pity, else I could have shown all of them here.

with guns and missles, of course. Boys will be boys

Then again, maybe it's because they weren't particularly nice so I didn't do it. =P

And it's not until the creation of the sleek and sexy race car, impromptu design, mind you, that I simply had the urge to show-off. (shamelessness +1)

It's on Businessmen-con-you-day, otherwise known as Valentine's Day to most people, that I came up with the race car design.

I like it so much that I decided to document the steps so I can rebuild it again in the future. And that started the new idea of coming up with a design the night before, took step by step photos of how it's made, then build it together with the kids on the next day.

Solved the short attention span issue, and also lighted another bulb in my head: the LEGO workshop series. =)

So LEGO lovers, if you have run out of idea or if you would like to try some new builds, stay tuned! ^_^

Random Nuts

Bollocks everywhere

The bollocks phenomenon enters the second week. A few colleagues are starting to see bollocks everywhere, whether it's content/subject appropriate or not.

To them, just about anything can be called bollocks now.

A clearer-minded* of the group suggested that we need a BA, Bollocks Anonymous.

I totally agree.

* there is no true clear-minded person in the group, don't be silly.

-----

Wuka wuka wiki!

Team Run is suffering from all time low spirit. Most of us are running worse than usual these few days.

Chieftain Tukitukitongka of a still unnamed Red-Indian-wannabe tribe of the country Wakanegra*, also a member of this Team Run, decided to summon the Run Spirit to reinvigorate the team.

"Wuka wuka!" He shouted while sacrificing burgers to the roaring bonfire (in his tummy).

"Wuka wuka!" Echoed Chikichikirunrun, another tribe and Team Run member.

Ahchaahchatuliptikal, a somewhat wise woman of the unnamed tribe upped the ante by sacrificing a handful of yummy candies to the void (in Candy Crush) and screeched,

"Wuka wuka wiki!"

She was summoning the Greater Run Spirit.

Bold she is.

And crazy, why lar want to train so hard? Can die one ler...

Meh! I am fine with just being bald. =P

* I may share the story of this unnamed Red-Indian-wannabe tribe in this country called Wakanegra in the future. Or maybe not. Don't hold your breath.

Random Thoughts

I'll be back, not

It seems, I won't be back, after all.

The Light Room group interest waned after the initial few months and eventually it was pretty much just me.

I don't need to be in a group to talk to myself so that's that.

Was fun while it lasted. For me, at least.

Oh, I still have a few pages on the Photography 101 that haven't been completed!

Meh, who cares.

-----

No story, yet

It's already late August, and I still haven't written a story.

Well, I still haven't completed a story. I have started a few, just none of them completed.

Time is ticking.

-----

Fire starter?

I might have unintentionally started a couple of things.

Some said my training for the coming Bridge Marathon started a run-mania among a few colleagues. There's now a WhatsApp group with constant run updates, Nike+ screenshots, as well as a healthy competition going on.

And after all these years, don't know why the utterance of bollocks this week started a... something within yet another group of colleagues/friends.

It's not like this is the first time I say bollocks, but somehow it's currently the 'in' thing, many of them are saying it in whatever situation they can use it, and it hasn't failed to tickled me up.

To be honest I am rather amused and somewhat puzzled.

「Zombie」

等等。

有些歌,是捏碎“蛋蛋”也唱不起的那种:

「煎熬」

煎熬啊煎熬…

Run Log (July 2013)

02 July 2013, Tuesday.

Outdoor, 3.58km around the workplace in 26 minutes.

Running too fast for my current capability, so couldn't achieve my target of two laps, 5km.

Oh well.

-----

04 July 2013, Thursday.

Outdoor, 3.57km around the workplace in 28 minutes.

Again failed to run at least 5km, i.e. two laps, and to think that my target this week is to get to three laps.

It's like I am getting worse the more I run. *Sigh*

-----

06 July 2013, Saturday.

Went running along Gurney Drive.

Only managed 3.82km in 31 minutes.

So much for my initial plan of hitting 5km today.

Good grief, the whole week I didn't manage to do a 5km run! >_<

-----

07 July 2013, Sunday.

Finally, a 'feel good' run after so many consecutive 'bad' runs.

Was a bit apprehensive when I hit the gym today since last I was in there, I had that 'almost going to cramp' bad experience.

But it went well today on the treadmill, did 8km running non-stop at 6.3km/h, took about 1:16 hours.

Hit another milestone on my training plan, and this was the longest run for me so far.

Onwards to the next milestone: 1 hour at 6.5km/h. Bring it on!

-----

12 July 2013, Friday.

Sprained my left ankle during Monday's badminton session, had to skip Tuesday and Thursday running.

The good news is the ankle is back to normal today, the bad news is my lower back is hurting.

One thing after another, bollocks! >_<

I hit the treadmill anyway.

And suffered. 3.52km in 34 minutes, struggled all the way.

Started with 6.5km/h, after 1km I had to walk at 5km/h for about 700m before the "left calf's going to cramp" feeling went away and I resumed running at 6.5km/h.

Another craptastic run. =(

-----

13 July 2013, Saturday.

5.1km on the treadmill, running non-stop at 6.3km/h.

A so so run.

-----

16 July 2013, Tuesday.

Drizzling at ulu place during after work hours, so I came home instead of running around the workplace.

It wasn't raining here on the island so I ditched the initial plan of going to the gym and hit the road instead.

After three weeks being unable to break that 6.5km/h wall, i.e. can't run nonstop on the treadmill at 6.5km/h for more than an hour, I have to rethink my strategy.

Instead of running like the pro, nonstop all the way, I may have to employ the sprint-walk-sprint-walk technique.

Okay sprint is really exaggerating for my case, I meant run faster than my current turtle speed then brisk walk to recover, then run again, repeat.

Tried that today. Managed 4.49km in 28 minutes, with one brisk walk between two runs.

The average speed was definitely faster than my usual turtle speed, let's see if I can complete 10km in this style.

-----

18 July 2013, Thursday.

Two laps around the workplace, by employing the run-walk-run-walk technique.

4.9km in 36 minutes. Guess the Nike+ app was slightly off today, each lap should be slightly more than 2.5km, oh well.

As an amusing aside, marathon lady was almost going to overtake me nearing the end of my second lap, I guess 10m more she would have. Don't know when she started her run, probably when I was almost done my first lap since she is so very fast.

-----

24 July 2013, Wednesday.

Ran along Gurney Drive, just managed one lap to and fro.

3.88km in 28 minutes, with a brisk walk in between two runs.

Average speed worked out to be around 8.3km/h. If I can maintain this for 10km then I will definitely finish in the time limit.

Gotta build up the stamina.

As an aside, first time seeing all my friends on Nike+ list, granted I only have 5 friends on Nike+ but still...

-----

26 July 2013, Friday.

One lap to and fro along Gurney Drive.

Ran-walked-ran for 26 minutes. Not sure of exact distance covered since the GPS went bonkers.

According to the GPS I ran into the ocean and back and I covered one kilometer in 3:19 minutes, that's like 18km/h. Woot! Flash!

Felt worse than Wednesday's run, meh!

-----

30 July 2013, Tuesday.

On business trip for a training course that lasts one week. Brought my running gears along.

Hit the hotel gym while waiting for dinner time and ran 3.6km in 29 minutes.

-----

31 July 2013, Wednesday.

Too many good meals, so full after the dinner these few days.

Hit the hotel's treadmill late at night and ran until near to its closing time.

5.08km in 43 minutes, a brisk walk in between two runs.

Day off

Took a day off to watch movie together with the kids, an early celebration of Hsiang's six years old birthday as I will be outstation on the actual day.

Though the first thing I did on waking up was to check the work e-mail. Why am I so 'cheap'? >_<

First time ever watching movie with mommi and pappi in a cinema. Three generations together. =)

The popcorn never did passed to me though...

The kids enjoyed the movie, not surprising with all those minions doing silly stuff. Mommi said the sound system is a bit too loud for her liking.

All in all a good experience.

Went running along Gurney Drive in the evening, and somehow, the day just went by.

Didn't really get much done, and it's over. Day off, over, just like that.

How time flies.

First drafted on 24th July 2013.

Children say the funniest things

130429

Young: mama, you forgot to wear your slippers again.

Wifey: really? How do you know?

Young: look! They are here, no feet in them.

-----

130607

On the highway, heading back after visiting pop pop and nana, the radio played Gangnum Style and a song that I couldn't remember the name of.

The kids picked up the lyrics and kept repeating them.

"Op, op, oppan gangnam style, ooo sexy lady."

And,

"Do you want to hold me? Do you want to kiss me?"

It's funny coming from the kids.

-----

130618

After a baking session...

Wifey: so, how's the bun?

Young: *thumbs up* very good!

Hsiang: it's so good it's up to the sky!

-----

130721

Deciding what to have for lunch...

Wifey: Young, you want chicken or pork?

Young: chicken.

Me: pork or chicken?

Young: pork.

Both wifey and I chuckled.

Wifey: chicken or pork?

Young: chicken.

Wifey: pork or chicken?

Young: chicken.

Hmm... so it depends on who's asking him?

Wifey: we eat chicken rice ya?

Young: Okay.

Passing a McDonald's...

Wifey: you want chicken rice or McDonald's?

Young: *theatrical sigh* if you really want to, I can eat both.

-----

130803

On seeing the toiletry bag I used on my business trip...

Young: mama, what is this?

Wifey: toiletry bag.

Young: why is it called a toiletry bag? Because it can be flushed?

On fixing a broken toy...

Hsiang: you are a LEGO engineer, but yeh yeh is an electrical engineer, so he knows how to fix this electrical stuff.

Me: I am a what engineer?

Hsiang: LEGO engineer.
